With a distance of 140 meters, she surpassed the previous record held by Japan&#8217;s Yasuko Ozeki by a remarkable 14 meters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thescubanews.com\/2024\/02\/29\/breaking-boundaries-valentina-cafolla-shatters-freediving-records-under-ice-at-lake-anterselva\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Scuba News<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/divemagazine.com\/scuba-diving-news\/valentina-cafolla-smashes-under-ice-freediving-record\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DIVE Magazine<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This record attempt was remarkable not only due to the distance. The following day, February 24, Cafolla set another milestone by becoming the first female freediver to set a record with bi-fins.
